Shady Brook Alpine Cottages offers you all year round activities and attractions, we are surrounding by the Alpine National Park and State forest offering a diverse range of activities. You can walk from your cottage and take a day or overnight trek using the world famous iconic tracks to Mt Feather Top. Or take walks that take you out along the Ovens River into the Alpine National Park. Magnificent scenery, and along the way take in remnant's of the gold mining days. There are plenty of short walks around the Village, along the rivers and out to Lake Tronoh.
In recent years there has been significant development of tracks and trails for mountain Bikes, servicing all grades. Or take the family and ride out on the shared trail to the Mountain Fresh Trout Farm and back. For those that enjoy road bikes there are any number of alternatives including the Mt Hotham, Falls Creek loop back to Harrietville. And of course for those who like to get off road the surround state forest and National Park offers many short and long tours that start right from your cottage car park.

The grounds of Shady Brook have been extensively landscaped and planted down with an amazing number of exotic trees and shrubs, the autumn is a blaze of fiery autumn colour, and the spring is herald in by thousands of daffodils, tulips and blue bells camellias flower from April to November and the Rhododendrons and azaleas give some of the best colour in the North East. Our summers are relatively cool especially the night and roses, crepe myrtles and dahlias continue the colour theme.
Sit on your deck and hear the river, a multitude of birds, taking in the views of garden soaring mountain ranges, walk the gardens, take a private track along the river or up on to mountain behind your cottage.
